Your first commands in Roody

Right after inviting Roody. Here's a selection of commands to try the bot out without touching any configuration. They're all slash commands: type / and pick them from the menu.

1. Check that the bot responds

/serverinfo

Shows a card with the server's data: members, creation date, owner, boost level, channels. If you get the reply, Roody is properly connected.

/user info

Information about a member: Discord account, when they joined the server, roles and avatar. With no parameter it shows yours.

/user info user:@someone

2. Handy day-to-day commands

/help

Interactive panel with every available command, organised by category. It's the shortcut to discovering what you can do.

/poll

Creates a quick poll in the channel with whatever options you want.

/poll question:"What are we playing tonight?" options:"Valorant,Minecraft,Among Us"

/afk

Marks your status as AFK with a message. If someone mentions you, Roody replies on your behalf until you're back.

/afk reason:"Having lunch, back in 30 minutes"

/translate

Translates text into another language.

/translate text:"Hola, ¿qué tal?" lang:English

3. Fun commands

  • /8ball question:"Will it rain tomorrow?" — magic 8-ball.
  • /meme — random meme.
  • /trivia — trivia question with options.
  • /anime and /pokemon — info lookups.
  • /game — access to the built-in mini-games.

4. Moderation commands (if you're staff)

These only show up if your role has the matching permission. Examples:

  • /warn user:@member reason:"Spam in chat" — add a warning.
  • /clear amount:50 — delete the last 50 messages in the channel.
  • /timeout user:@member time:10m reason:"Flooding" — mute temporarily.
  • /slowmode time:30 — turn on slow mode in the channel.
  • /warns user:@member — see a member's warning history.

5. If your server has economy or levels enabled

  • /balance — check your balance.
  • /work — work to earn coins.
  • /shop — open the server shop.
  • /rank — see your level and experience.
  • /top — the server's level ranking.

If something doesn't show up

  • Check that Roody is online.
  • Refresh Discord with Ctrl+R.
  • Check that your role has the "Use Application Commands" permission in the channel.
  • If the problem persists, go to Slash commands don't show up.
